It's Time To Register For The 'Furry Scurry' To Help The Denver Dumb Friend's League

DENVER (CBS4) - The Denver Dumb Friends League's annual Furry Scurry will be held on May 7. It's the largest single dog walk in the country and CBS4 is a proud sponsor.

Megan Rees with the Dumb Friends League stopped by CBS4 studios on Sunday and talked about how money raised from the fun event helps the organization.

"The money raised from the Furry Scurry goes to help all the homeless pets of the Dumb Friends League. We take in more than 20,000 homeless pets every year, which is about 56 on average every single day," Rees said.

She said it includes taking care of injured pets that aren't quite ready for adoption and need medical care that costs money.

"The money raised from the Furry Scurry helps us provide vital medical care, foster care, behavior training, and of course adoption services to all the pets that come to our doors."

The Furry Scurry is a two-mile walk around Washington Park but it includes many more fun events.

"After the two-mile walk you can enjoy all sorts of things -- refreshments; we have food trucks on site, we have contests and demonstrations; you can watch dog agility sporting events," Rees said. "We have contests like the best trick and the doggie doppelganger, which is a pet-person contest. We have tons of vendors and sponsors with free goodies and lots of shopping. So it really is a fun event, especially if you're an animal lover."
