Wintry Mix Hits Highlands Ranch

By Andrea Flores

HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. (CBS4) - It was a busy day for snow crews Saturday as wet and heavy snow hit parts of Highlands Ranch.

Weighed-down trees and covered sidewalks in one quiet neighborhood, but Highlands Ranch resident Ryan Ross said his dog Rocky didn't seem to mind.

"He loves to bury his nose in it and be a puppy," Ross said.

Many residents said they woke up to about a foot of snow Saturday morning.

Florida native Robin Hoefler said the wintery weather isn't what she had planned for her spring vacation.

"It's not as cold as I thought it would be," said Hoefler. "I haven't seen snow in 30 years. It's actually kind of pretty. I'm waiting for the Christmas lights to come out."

While the storm may have put a damper on their weekend plans, Ross said his family is making the most of their time indoors.

"We're going to stay indoors, have a few drinks and meals, and that's about it," said Ross. Not going to go anywhere."
