Woman Pleads Guilty To Selling Goods Meant To Be Donations

BRIGHTON, Colo. (AP) — A woman accused of helping sell mattresses that were supposed to be donated to charity has pleaded guilty to charges of theft and charitable fraud.

The Adams County District Attorney's Office says 58-year-old Genevieve Cruz pleaded guilty Wednesday and will be sentenced May 25.

Prosecutors say Cruz and 36-year-old Adam Shryock collected mattresses that had been returned under warranty and claimed they would be donated to refugees. Authorities say they sold most of the mattresses instead of donating them.

Shryock pleaded guilty to the same charges in March. His sentencing is scheduled for May 16.
