Rockies Opening Day Weather 'Luck' Almost As Hot As Story's Bat

DENVER (CBS4) - When it comes to the Colorado Rockies and opening day weather in Denver the team always seems to get lucky when it comes to the forecast.

Since their first home game in 1993 the high temperature in Denver on opening day has been above average 69.6% of the time, or 16 out of 23 games.

That's a pretty 'hot' record considering how transitional a month like April can be along the Front Range with everything from severe storms to heavy snow expected, sometimes, on the same day.

Measurable rain has only been recorded four times at the official weather station on opening day and measurable snowfall only twice.

This year's forecast looks like the streak of 'hot' opening day weather will continue with temperatures in Denver running about 10 degrees above normal and nothing more than some passing clouds and maybe a little wind expected.
