Frontier Airlines Cancels Mascot Contest Due To Voting Fraud

DENVER (CBS4)- The mascot contest for Frontier Airlines has been canceled because of suspicious or fraudulent voting activity.

The airline had launched a contest where passengers could vote to have their choice of mascot on the tail of one of Frontier's 19 new planes.

Students at Aspen Crossing Elementary in Aurora were competing against big schools to try to win the contest. Those students wanted the new animal to be Marty the Marmot.

Frontier told CBS4 they verified through a third party technology vendor that suspicious or fraudulent voting activity had taken place. The contest was pulled at 3 p.m. Monday.

Frontier said there were also ineligible participants in the voting process.

Frontier stated, "At this time we are evaluating what can be done to provide a fair contest to all participants- in the meantime we are providing a $20 voucher to participants who voted in the contest. Luckily we have time to evaluate the situation and plenty of other North American animals to place on the tails of our aircraft in the coming months."
