Woman In Serious Motorcycle Accident Receives Call From Peyton Manning

DENVER (CBS4) - A Grand Junction native seriously injured in a motorcycle crash received a call from Peyton Manning last week.

Savannah Romero was put in a coma, suffered a brain injury, 12 broken ribs, and blood clots in the March 7 accident in North Dakota. She was airlifted to Bismarck then transferred to Denver.

After two extremely difficult weeks with Romero in a coma at the hospital, her husband Carlos received a call from the former Broncos quarterback.

"This is Peyton Manning, I just wanted to call and tell you you're in my thoughts and prayers. I know you're going through a tough fight right now, but you've got a lot of people pulling for you and praying for you," he can be heard saying over the phone.

Romero is a huge Broncos fan and Manning called to give her some encouragement. Carlos said it was enough to lift his spirits.

The Dickinson Press in North Dakota reports the mother of Romero's daughter's friend was able to get in touch with people who knew Manning for the nice surprise.

Romero's GoFundMe page now says she is out of a coma and is in a semi-conscious state.
