Team Honors Fallen Deputy, Coach At Baseball Game
LYONS, Colo. (CBS4) - The community lost more than a deputy when Park County Deputy Nate Carrigan was killed last month. The high school baseball team lost a coach.
On Tuesday, the Platte Canyon High School varsity team traveled to Lyons for a game, and the home team honored Deputy Carrigan by painting his initials N.C. on the field and their batting helmets.
Platte Canyon, for whom Carrigan coached, has the initials on their hats as well.
"I'm also in law enforcement and I feel the pain that they're going through, and I would hate for my guys to ever have to deal with something like that so I wanted to make something special for them," said Lyons baseball coach Ken Rosales.
After the game the players and their families braved the cold and rain for a cookout.
