Boulder Police Arrest Sexual Assault Suspect

BOULDER, Colo. (CBS4)- Police in Boulder have arrested the man they believe is wanted in two sexual assaults.

The assaults took place in August and September 2015 but the incidents were not immediately reported to police. Both assaults took place in the van of the suspect, Kerry Whitfield.

Investigators say the assaults happened after the victims purchased and ingested controlled substances. Both victims were known to Whitfield, 63.

Whitfield was classified as a sexually violent predator by the State of Colorado in 2007 because he presented a high potential to re-offend. Whitfield is currently registered as an SVP in Aurora and Boulder.

Whitfield remains in custody at the Boulder County Jail on charges of sexual assault and unlawful sale of a controlled substance.

Police believe there may be other victims associated with Whitfield and urge them to come forward by calling Boulder Police Detective Heather Frey at 303.441.3369.
