Portion Of Highway 285 Renamed For Fallen Jefferson County Sergeant
JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4)- State lawmakers passed a bill on Friday that will rename a portion of Highway 285 in honor of a Jefferson County sergeant who died while trying to help an accident victim.
Sergeant Sean Renfro was killed in January 2015 when he had stopped to help a family involved in a different crash. The 15-year department veteran left behind a wife and four children.
On Friday, members of the Jeffco Sheriff's Office joined Renfro's mother, sister, wife and children at the reading of the declaration.
The sheriff's office said the declaration will ensure Renfro is not forgotten.
