Parole Officers Find Woman's Body In Chest-Like Trunk At Parolee's Home

GREELEY, Colo. (CBS4) - Parole officers in Greeley made a grisly discovery during an unannounced visit to the residence of a parolee.

According to Sgt. Joe Tymkowych with Greeley Police, just after 4:30 p.m. Wednesday officers responded to a residence in the 1400 block of 9th Avenue on report of a body found by two parole officers.

"The discovery was made by two parole officers when they contacted a parolee at that residence," Tymkowych said in a statement. "While checking the apartment on a routine unannounced home visit they discovered the body and notified police."

The adult female body was found inside a chest type trunk in a closet in the apartment occupied by parolee David Wayne Batty.

Batty, 53, was taken into custody.

Police have yet to identify the body. An autopsy is scheduled to determine the manner of death.

Batty has a history of domestic violence, according to Tymkowych.
