7-Year-Old Attacked By Dog In Greeley

GREELEY, Colo. (CBS4) - Police officers in Greeley were searching for a dog they say attacked a 7-year-old boy.

According to police, an adult woman was walking some children to a park in the area of 25th Street and 13th Avenue just before 5 p.m. when the attack happened.

The boy was apparently holding a bag of food when a large black dog, possibly a German shepherd, ran up to the boy and bit him on the head and then ran off. The boy sustained puncture wounds and lacerations to his head and ear. He was transported to Northern Colorado Medical Center with wounds that aren't considered to be serious,

The boy was expected to be released from the hospital Monday night.

Officers were canvassing the neighborhood looking the dog or someone who knows it. Anyone who might know who the dog belongs to should contact police.
