BRIGHTON, Colo. (CBS4) - A small plane crashed in Brighton when the pilot apparently looked down to adjust something on the control panel.

That's according to the Brighton Fire Department, which said the plane skidded off the runway at Van Aire Skyport.

The pilot wasn't hurt. He told authorities the plane is worth approximately $500,000.

Officials with the FAA will investigate the crash.
