Boy Tells Police He Escaped From Potential Kidnapper

FORT COLLINS, Colo. (CBS4)- A 12-year-old boy told police a man tried to kidnap him as he was playing in Fort Collins. The boy was able to break free and run away.

Deputies with the Larimer County Sheriff's Office say a man hiding behind a tree grabbed the boy's wrist on Tuesday evening and pulled the child towards him.

The boy said he was looking for his siblings in the wooded area just south of the railroad tracks near Boxelder Creek and west of the 200 block of Camino Del Mundo.

The boy was able to get away and run home. He suffered some minor scratches to his wrist but was not seriously injured.

His siblings had been playing in a different part of the field and did not see the man.

The suspect is described a white male, 45-50 years old, messy and short black hair, unshaven with a chin-only goatee and no mustache, the goatee is salt and pepper colored and he was wearing a dirty short-sleeved royal blue shirt and dirty tan cargo pants.

Deputies searched the area but did not locate anyone matching the description. The boy told police the man appeared to be highly intoxicated and was mumbling.
