Samurai Exhibit Includes 900-Year-Old Artifacts
DENVER (CBS4)- The newest exhibit at the Denver Art Museum includes a unique perspective of the ancient art of samurai with some pieces from the collection dating back centuries.
"A collection by definition is a bit of a sickness, a disease, you always want more because there's always something that crops up that is more extraordinary than the last thing you've seen or that is different," said Art Collector Gabriel Barbier-Mueller.

The exhibit includes intricate and elaborate suits of armor from Japan. There are 140 objects on display in the "Samurai" exhibit. Some of them are 900 years old.
"One hundred 40 pieces which are here as part of the traveling exhibition have traveled about 29,000 miles around the world in different museums," said Barbier-Mueller.
"If you look at the detail, the aesthetics, the craftsmanship, that's when you really get to see that the Japanese samurai warrior was not just a fierce warrior but he's also a man who cares deeply about the aesthetics and composition like a sculpture that this represents, there cannot be a favorite," said Barbier-Mueller.
The Samurai exhibit opens at the Denver Art Museum March 6 and continues through June 5. Special tickets are required with a discount for members.
