Lindsey Vonn Ends Season Early With Hairline Fracture

DENVER (CBS4) - Olympian skier Lindsey Vonn is ending her season early because of a knee injury.

Vonn crashed during a race in Andorra last week, suffering a hairline fracture to her knee. She had to be taken away on a sled.

Vonn lives and trains in Vail, and is currently leading the World Cup standings.

She released a statement Wednesday morning on her Facebook page, saying she made "the difficult decision to end my season and leave the World Cup circuit due to an injury."

Vonn says further damage to her knee could risk her future in skiing, but calls this decision one of the toughest of her career.
