Chris Harris Jr.: Newton Shouldn't Have Had To Listen To Me After SB50
SANTA CLARA, Calif. (CBS4) - Broncos cornerback Chris Harris Jr. was loud and excited when he was talking to reporters after Super Bowl 50.
Losing Panthers quarterback Cam Newton was in a nearby space inside Levi's Stadium talking in a low voice to other reporters, and it appeared he could hear Harris clearly while he was answering questions.
Hearing the jubilant defender seemed to made things harder for Newton than they already were after the Broncos and their No. 1 defense pounded them continously in the game. And it may have contributed to Newton getting up and leaving while reporters were still in the midst of asking him questions.
Harris, when asked about Newton being able to hear him, said he would have been upset, too.
"I had no idea," Harris told ESPN the next day. "I don't know why they had us in the same room or anywhere close to where they could hear us."
Harris said the postgame interview areas weren't set up well.
"To be able to hear your opponent right behind you talking (about winning)? No one wants to hear that."
