Denver Police Chief Urges Broncos Fans To Celebrate Safely

DENVER (CBS4)- Denver's Chief of Police sent a letter to Broncos fans urging them to celebrate safely when the orange and blue win Super Bowl 50.

White sent this letter to Denver on Saturday:

Dear Broncos fans and citizens of Denver,

It's an exciting time in Denver as championship fever is sweeping across Broncos Country. We are hopeful for a Broncos victory in the NFL Championship this Sunday, but regardless of the outcome, we ask that all fans and citizens celebrate responsibly.

This is a great opportunity to show the nation that we are proud of our team and the Mile High City. However, we have seen the positive experience of past championship wins quickly become negative when a few people with bad intentions take to the streets with destructive goals. We ask each of you to please celebrate in a controlled manner and not tarnish the event with illegal acts.

The Denver Police Department has partnered with the Denver Broncos to create public service announcements encouraging appropriate celebrations. Visit the link to view and share important messages about celebrating responsibly from Broncos Alumni, Broncos Cheerleaders, Miles the Mascot and others.

Be safe and GO BRONCOS!

Sincerely,

Robert C. White
Chief of Police

On Friday, police urged fans to #Don'tBeADonkey and keep the violence out of the celebrations.
