Bill Would Make It Easier For Non-Citizens In Colorado To Get Driver's Licenses
DENVER (CBS4) - A bill is being considered by the Colorado Legislature that would make it easier for non-citizens in Colorado to get a driver's license or identification card.
The bill would allow more offices to issue the licenses and create more appointment times.
Currently only three Colorado Division of Motor Vehicles locations can license non-citizens and daily appointments are capped at 93.
"Regardless of the color of your skin or your country of origin, everybody in Colorado deserves the same opportunity," said Rep. Jonathan Singer, D-Longmont.
Supporters say the bill will help the program keep up with overwhelming demand.
