Denver Zoo Makes Friendly Wager With North Carolina Zoo & Western North Carolina Nature Center

DENVER (CBS4) - Officials at the Denver Zoo have made a friendly wager on Super Bowl 50 with the North Carolina Zoo and the Western North Carolina Nature Center.

"If the Broncos win, directors from the North Carolina Zoo and the Western North Carolina Nature Center will greet guests in Broncos gear in their own main entrances, holding a sign congratulating Denver on the win," the Denver Zoo said in a prepared statement. "Should the Broncos come up short, Denver Zoo President/CEO Shannon Block will wear the jersey of Panthers quarterback Cam Newton in the Zoo's main plaza while holding a sign congratulating Carolina on the win."

North Carolina Zoo Director Patricia Simmons and Western North Carolina Nature Center Director Chris Gentile are participating in the friendly wager.

"Denver Zoo's animals, including its Przewalski's horses, will also soon receive Panthers-themed gear and enrichment to stomp on, rip apart and destroy in preparation for the big game."

Denver Zoo made a similar bet with Seattle's Woodland Park Zoo in 2014 when the Broncos lost to the Seahawks. Woodland Park Zoo received a case of trout for their sea eagles from Denver Zoo.
