Broncos Fan Finds Lost Wedding Ring At AFC Championship Game

By Suzanne McCarroll

DENVER (CBS4)- A touchdown pass from Peyton Manning to tight end Owen Daniels had the crowd at Sports Authority Field at Mile High going wild at the AFC Championship game that put the New England Patriots against the Denver Broncos.

"Right after the first touchdown the whole place was pandemonium" says Broncos fan Jim Swayze.

Every Broncos fan was elated according to Jim Swayze. Well… every fan but one who was sitting behind him.

"What happened was he went like this (Swayze throws his hands up in excitement to demonstrate) and his ring must have popped off, " said Swayze.

The man who just lost his wedding ring was a newlywed. So, while play continued on the field, the forlorn fan enlisted the help of those around him to look for his wedding band.

"I was, and others in the section, were looking for it even on the grimy floor" says Swayze.

They didn't find the ring. The Broncos won, fans celebrated, Swayze and his wife went home with the blanket they'd brought to the game for warmth. This would seem like the likely end of the story.

Swayze explains he and his wife took light rail home and went into their house, "My wife grabbed the blanket and tried to fold it, then shook it out, and out tumbled the ring on the floor. We knew immediately what it was."

So now the goal is to find the once-bejeweled Broncos fan who has a naked ring finger.

"We're just really hoping he can get his ring and now instead of just a wedding ring it will be a Super Bowl ring," said Swayze.

Swayze contacted the Denver Broncos but so far they haven't been able to locate the owner either.
