Colorado Soccer Star To Help U.S. Women's National Team In Olympics Qualifier

DENVER (CBS4)- A Colorado soccer star is getting a big honor-- Mallory Pugh will try to help the U.S. Women's National Team to qualify for a trip to the Olympics.

The Mountain Vista High School student made her first international appearance last weekend in a 5-0 win over Ireland.

U.S. coach Jill Ellis announced Pugh, 17, made the senior roster with 16 other women, including Alex Morgan, Carli Lloyd and Hope Solo.

Pugh is headed to UCLA in the fall.

The team heads to Texas next month to qualify for the Olympics in Rio.

The team is trying to become the first team ever to win a world cup and an Olympic gold medal in consecutive years.
