Repeat Sex Offender Sentenced For Assault On 3-Year-Old At Chuck E. Cheese's

CENTENNIAL, Colo. (CBS4) - A convicted repeat sex offender has been sentenced to 18 years to life in prison for violating his mandatory protection order and sexually assaulting a 3-year-old girl at a Chucky E. Cheese's indoor playground.

According to Michelle Yi with the 18th Judicial District Attorney's Office, Robert Dustin Weber, 44, of Littleton received the maximum sentence for assaulting the girl at the restaurant in Englewood.

Yi said on Nov. 20, 2014, Weber, his mother and his 2-year-old daughter went to the Chucky E. Cheese's located at 1001 Englewood Parkway.

"While in the indoor playground, a 3-year-old girl befriended the defendant's daughter. The defendant played alongside the two children and eventually, entered the enclosed crawl tunnels together with them," Yi said in a statement. "The victim's father saw the defendant enter the crawl tunnels with the girls on two separate occasions, staying in there for three to six minutes."

After playing, Weber took a picture in a photo booth with his daughter, the victim and the victim's father.

"When the defendant, his daughter and mother left the Chuck E. Cheese, the 3-old-child victim told her father that the defendant had 'put his pee pee' in her mouth. The victim's father immediately called the police who responded to the scene," Yi said.

Officers were able to identify Weber in part because of the photo booth picture. During the investigation it was revealed that Weber was a registered sex offender "with a history of similar behavior toward underage victims."

At the time of the offense Weber was on bond for indecent exposure and was prohibited from having contact with children.

"In that case, Weber was convicted of masturbating while driving past a school bus filled with school-aged children."

Officers found Weber at his home and he admitted to being at the Chuck E. Cheese earlier that day and being in the crawl tunnel with the victim.

"When the officer asked him whether he had sexually assaulted a 3-year-old girl, the defendant stated, 'I don't think I should talk about that.'"

Officers then took Weber into custody.

Other victims of Weber, now adults, came forward and testified at his trial.

"The term 'despicable' is not big enough to capture what this molester did. The crime is horrendous, the motivations behind it disgusting and dangerous. He used his daughter as bait to lure another 3-year-old into a place of increased vulnerability. The theft of a child's innocence cannot be measured, nor can it be tolerated by a just society," District Attorney George Brauchler said in a statement. "There is a level of trust that our community has in family places like Chuck E. Cheese's. The sobering reality for our community is that registration as a sex offender and being on bond for indecent exposure cannot prevent a child molester from accessing these places to which we take our kids – but life in prison can."
