Bowlen Ties Kraft For NFL Owner Super Bowl Appearances
DENVER (CBS4) - Pat Bowlen, owner of the Denver Broncos, has tied New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft for most Super Bowl appearances by a pro football owner.
The impressive stat came with the Broncos 20-18 defeat of the Patriots in the AFC Championship on Sunday. Bowlen has now been owner of the Broncos for seven Super Bowl appearances. The team has advanced to the Super Bowl eight different times.
During the presentation of the Lamar Hunt Trophy after Sunday's win, Annabel Bowlen, Pat's wife, shared the following comment to the crowd:
"On behalf of my husband, Pat, and the Bowlen Family, I want to congratulate John Elway, Coach (Gary) Kubiak, our players and, most importantly, the most incredible fans in the NFL," she said. "We are so honored to accept the Lamar Hunt Trophy and represent the AFC in Super Bowl 50. Let's get it done for Pat, and go Broncos!"
Pat Bowlen is battling Alzheimer's Disease and no longer manages the operations of the team or makes public appearances. He gradually scaled back involvement with the team in the years leading to his formal decision to step away from day-to-day administration in July 2014, although he remained a fixture at games through Super Bowl XLVIII.
Kraft has been owner of the Patriots for seven Super Bowl appearances as well.
