DJ LeMahieu, Charlie Blackmon Explain Gas Can Tweet At Rockies Fest

DENVER (CBS4) -Colorado Rockies second baseman DJ LeMahieu helped out a fellow player and then took to Twitter to poke fun of him last Monday. The two talked about the tweet at Saturday's Rockies Fest.

According to LeMahieu's tweet, Rockies outfielder Charlie Blackmon's Jeep apparently ran out of gas while driving on a highway in Georgia and LeMahieu came to the rescue.

"Found this guy testing out the empty light in his car this morning. Didn't quite make it," LeMahieu tweeted.

The tweet shows what appears to be Blackmon wearing skinny jeans and using a gas can to get some fuel back in his Jeep.

Blackmon apparently didn't mind the jab because he retweeted it on his own Twitter account.

"I'm like, 'Dude, where are you at?' 'I'm on the side of the road (Blackmon said).' So I picked him up and got a gas can," LeMahieu said.

Somebody asked him about why he posted the picture.

"I couldn't let that go," he replied.

"He actually snapped it at the perfect time. I didn't realize that he was taking the picture when he took it and then like after the fact I smiled and it would have made a nice picture … but then he got it like when I was still a little bewildered," Blackmon said.
