Die-Hard Broncos Fans Not Waiting Until Game Day To Tailgate

By Melissa Garcia

DENVER (CBS4) - Broncos fans camped outside Sports Authority Field at Mile High to claim their spots for tailgating at Sunday's AFC Championship Game. On Saturday ticket holders were already lining the block outside of the stadium.

Season ticket holder Antonio "Broncotiz" Acosta was outside ready to fire up the grill with his car packed full of tailgating essentials.

"Since it's an early game, we'll start out with Bloody Marys," said Acosta.

The hard-core Broncos fan was one of the first in line to get in.

"It's just a big adrenaline rush," said Acosta. "You're out here, you're supporting your team. I've been watching them basically since I've been a baby."

"It's a blast," said Bob Mills, who claimed a spot for his RV. "We tailgate every game. But the playoffs (is) when the fun really starts."

Mills has been at Sports Authority Field since Friday.

"I came by yesterday at about noon and saw 12 RVs already in line, so I figured I had better get in line also," he said.

More than 20 family members and friends will be joining him at 8 a.m. when the stadium parking lot gates open.

"We cook up a good meal, a good time with friends, and time to get rowdy, get ready for the game," said Mills.

Some fans came from far away to see the Broncos take on the Patriots Sunday.

"The energy in Denver is on a different level. It's amazing to be here," said April Cohen, who travelled to Denver with her mom all the way from New England.

While Cohen lives in Patriots territory, it's the Broncos she'll be rooting for Sunday.

"I think it's going to be an extremely close game," said Cohen. "But I really think that Denver is going to pull through. I think they're going to the Super Bowl this year."
