Jail Protesters Briefly Take Stage At Denver King Day Rally

DENVER (AP) - Demonstrators protesting the death of a man in a Denver jail have briefly taken over the stage at the city's Martin Luther King Day rally.

The Denver Post reports the protesters at Monday's event demanded the release of jail videotapes in the 2015 death of Michael Marshall. The death is still under investigation.

The protesters then yielded the stage. Mayor Michael Hancock later addressed the crowd.

The rally in downtown Denver culminated the city's annual "Marade" or march and parade to honor the civil rights leader.

Some people in the march carried signs saying, "Black Lives Matter." Others carried photos of King.
