Rapids Get 1st-Round Draft Pick In SuperDraft Via Trade With LA Galaxy

CARSON, Calif. (AP) - The LA Galaxy have signed former MLS MVP Mike Magee and traded their first-round pick in the SuperDraft to the Colorado Rapids for targeted allocation money.

The Galaxy announced the moves Thursday.

Magee won two MLS Cup titles and became a fan favorite during his first tenure with the Galaxy from 2009-13. The forward spent the past three seasons with the Chicago Fire after getting traded for defender Robbie Rogers, who was re-signed by the Galaxy earlier in the week.

Magee scored 21 goals and won the MVP award in 2013 despite the midseason trade for Rogers, who emerged as an elite MLS defender.

Magee has played in just 29 games over the past two years due to injury.

The Galaxy also re-signed forward Jose Villareal and midfielder Rafael Garcia.
