Denver Police Investigating Officer-Involved Shooting At Ramada Hotel

DENVER (CBS4) - Police in Denver are investigating after an officer-involved shooting Monday afternoon.

According to police, the shooting occurred just before 4 p.m. in the area of 26th Avenue and Zuni Street outside of the Ramada Denver Midtown hotel.

One suspect was transported to the hospital after being shot by an officer. The person's condition isn't known.

No officers were injured in the incident.

Police said they were investigating a stolen vehicle they spotted when somebody approached them about other suspicious activity happening at another vehicle in the hotel parking lot. As they approached the vehicle police say a man got out with a gun and shots were fired.

"The officers were going to make contact with that vehicle when a male suspect exited the vehicle armed with a firearm … shots were fired," Doug Shepman with Denver Police said.

Police confirmed an officer fired shots but it's not clear if the suspect fired any shots.

It's not clear what suspicious activity the suspect was engaged in. His name hasn't been released.
