CAIR Wants Federal Investigation Of Islamic Market Truck Fire

ARAPAHOE COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4) - The Council on American-Islamic Relations is asking federal authorities to investigate the arson act at a Muslim-owned market in Arapahoe County.

A delivery truck belonging to the Zamzam Halal International Market and Deli was set on fire last Friday.

Store owner Mohammed Almosawi believes the fire was intentionally aimed at his Islamic business.

"We were singled out because we are Muslims and because of all of these messages going on in the news," said Almosawi, an Iraq native.

Investigators, however, don't agree and point to another fire in a dumpster nearby that occurred just two hours later.

"Neither of them seem to be connected to race, religion, ancestry, national origin," Julie Brooks with the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office said.

Surveillance images have been released of the man suspected in both fires that day.
