Two Survive Hit & Run Rollover Crash, Search For Suspect Ensues

DENVER (CBS4) - Two people survived a rollover hit and run crash in Denver Wednesday morning.

A Jeep Cherokee was driving at approximately 5 a.m. when it was struck by another car at 2263 Champa Street and flipped onto its side.

Police are now looking for a white four-door sedan as the suspect vehicle. CBS4 spoke with the passenger of the Jeep who said his first priority was making sure his friend, the driver, was okay.

"It went over really fast; I was just making sure my friend was fine. I was the passenger, the car was upside down, I couldn't figure out how to get my seatbelt off," said passenger Josh Carr.

The driver sustained injuries to the head and neck and was listed in in stable condition at Denver Health.

Police say in cases like this, it can be difficult to track down the suspect.

"Obviously you may locate the vehicle. Often times it's somebody who says, 'My car was stolen' or 'I wasn't driving at the time.' Who was behind the wheel at the time is often times the biggest issue," said Denver Police spokesman Sonny Jackson.

Police say the sedan in question likely has a lot of front end damage.
