Man Hopes Whoever Stole His Snoopy Decoration Will 'Have A Very Merry Christmas'

By Lauren DiSpirito

GOLDEN, Colo. (CBS4) - It's not your everyday inflatable Santa or reindeer, so when Dennis Jones' Snoopy decoration went missing from his front lawn in Golden on Wednesday, he thought maybe the culprit had been inspired by the recent Peanuts movie.

"I just said, 'You stole our Snoopy, really?'" Jones said.

Jones discovered it missing after going through a walk in his neighborhood on Foothill Circle. He thinks whoever took the blow-up decoration probably snatched it sometime between 7 and 8 a.m.

He was so unnerved by the un-Christmas-like action, he painted a sign saying just that, and planted it in his front yard.

"Come on," Jones said when asked about the decoration, "Don't do that to anyone, and that was the thought I wanted to get across."

Jones said the discovery was a letdown as he puts the decoration out each year for his grandchildren.

His 7-year-old grandson Jackson Gerson said he was disappointed when his family pulled up to the home for Christmas Eve celebrations with his grandparents.

"Our dad read the sign over there and I'm like, 'Why did somebody take Snoopy,'" Gerson said.

Jones said he's less concerned with the petty theft, or catching who did it.

Without malice, he said he wants the best for whoever took it this holiday, and wants to spread a message of Christmas cheer, rather than Grinch-like behavior.

"Hopefully, whoever took it will have a very Merry Christmas," Jones said.
