Volunteers Of America Handing Out 2,000 Holiday Food Baskets On Monday
DENVER (CBS4) - Two-thousand holiday food baskets will go to the needy around the metro area on Monday.
The baskets include a bag of produce, a turkey and two sides. There is enough to feed a family of five.
Albertsons, Safeway, Food Bank of the Rockies and Volunteers of America are making it happen at the Volunteers of America mission on Lawrence Street.
Santa Claus also made a special appearance Monday morning. Kids were able to talk to Kris Kringle and get a gift.
"For many of these children this is the first time they get to see Santa, and this might be the only gift they receive, so it's a really neat thing to do." Jordan Kellerman with Volunteers of America said.
Food baskets will be given out until 4 p.m.
