Chili's To Host 'Give Back Event' To Benefit The Family Of Fallen Trooper Jaimie Jursevics

DENVER (CBS4) - A Colorado State Patrol trooper who was killed after being struck by a suspected drunk driver was a regular at a popular restaurant chain, and now that company is honoring the fallen trooper and raising money for her family.

Next Monday, December 21st, all 35 Colorado Chili's Grill & Bar restaurants "will host an all-day Give Back Event to raise funds in support of the family of fallen Trooper Jaimie Jursevics," according to a CSP news release.

Jursevics was struck by a vehicle while assisting another trooper on the scene of an accident at Interstate 25 and Tomah Road on Nov. 15. She left behind a loving husband and 8-month-old daughter.

"Shortly after her death, a team member at a local Denver Chili's recognized her photo as that of a regular guest and wanted to do something to help her family," the news release stated. "As the idea of a special day for Trooper Jursevics made its way around to the Chili's management team, more and more excitement grew until the entire state got involved."

All Chili's restaurants across the state will donate 15 percent of qualifying sales to Jursevics' family and two other groups at the request of Jursevics' husband.

"When the idea was brought to Trooper Jursevics husband's attention, he immediately thought of the outpouring of support he received and wanted to give back. He asked that the event also benefit the two groups that assisted him after Jaimie's death."

Jursevics' husband will make a donation to the Colorado State Patrol Family Foundation and the Flying Wheels Foundation, which helps with "immediate financial needs that are realized when a law enforcement officer is hurt or killed."

Those who would like to participate just have to dine at a Chili's on Monday and mention the Trooper Jursevics' fundraiser to their server.
