Suspect In Officer-Involved Shooting Also Charged In Connection With Home Invasion
DENVER (CBS4) - A man suspected in connection with a home invasion robbery last September has been formally charged after being arrested for allegedly shooting a Denver police officer.
According to Lynn Kimbrough with the district attorney's office, Jason Wood, 36, has been charged with three counts of aggravated robbery, two counts of second-degree assault, and two counts of first-degree burglary.
"The charges allege that on Sept. 30 Wood and a co-defendant went into a home in 3800 block of Perry Street, assaulted two people, and then stole tattoo equipment and a woman's purse," Kimbrough said in a statement.
Kimbrough said Wood's co-defendant, Jennifer Lovato, 39, has already been charged and faces two counts of aggravated robbery and one count of second-degree burglary.
"Wood was arrested following an officer-involved shooting last week and remains in custody in connection with both the robbery and the shooting," Kimbrough said.
Wood's bond was set at $50,000 for the robbery and $550,000 for the officer shooting case. He is scheduled to appear court on Wednesday to be formally advised of the charges in the robbery case. Formal charges in the shooting case are expected to be filed later this week.
