Skiers, Boarders Happy With Fresh Powder On Slopes

COPPER MOUNTAIN, Colo. (CBS4) - The traction law in place for drivers in the high country. That means vehicles need snow tires or tires with appropriate treads or chains. But that didn't deter skiers and boarders who are happy with the fresh powder that fell on the slopes overnight.

About five inches fell overnight at Copper Mountain and more is expected later in the week.

"The storm here at Copper Mountain couldn't have come at a better time right before Christmas," a Copper Mountain official said. "It was good to refresh the slopes. We had … a little bit of a slow time with the snow. But it's okay, we had a real strong November."

Lines at the lifts were long but skiers and boarders who talked to CBS4 said it was worth the wait.

"All I wanted to do was snowboard so I just had to wait until the morning time and get out here bright and early," said one boarder.

"It's excellent. It's powdery, but it's nice and fast," another said. "It's great. They've been waiting on it all season. Now that it's coming down, they love it."

With more snow forecasted through Christmas, things are looking even better.
