East High Student Charged In Attempted Robbery At School
DENVER (CBS4)- An East High School student has been charged in connection to an attempted robbery incident at the school last week that police say included a gun later identified as a BB gun.
Elhadji Samba Dioum has been charged with attempted aggravated robbery, menacing and theft from a person.
The charges allege that about 1:45 p.m. on Dec. 3 Dioum, 19, tried to rob another high school student and threatened to shoot him with a gun. That gun was later identified as a BB gun. The charges further allege that he had stolen the gun from another student prior to the attempted robbery.
The school was placed on lockout status and all afternoon and evening activities at the school were cancelled for that day. Students put into effect the active shooter procedures they had practiced.
No one was injured.
Dioum remains in custody on $100,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in Denver County Court on Thursday to be formally advised of the charges.
Additional charges are expected to be filed against the student who brought the BB gun to school. He is a juvenile and is currently in custody at the Gilliam Detention Center.
