Tallest Christmas Tree In Colorado Will Light Up Thursday Evening

WESTMINSTER, Colo. (CBS4) - The tallest Christmas tree in the state will light up for the holiday season Thursday evening.

Crews decorated the giant Colorado blue spruce outside Westminster Fire Station No. 1 located at 3948 West 73rd Avenue.

"Since 1987 when this annual tradition was revived our local firefighters have assisted us with this tall task," the Westminster Historical Society said in a statement.

The tree stands 63.2 feet tall.

The lighting event starts at 6:30 p.m. There will be music and Santa Claus will be on hand to see the kids.

Schedule Of Events

6:30 pm - Welcome and History of the Tree and Home Town Christmas

6:35 pm - Belleview Christian Preparatory School's Concert Choir will lead us in Christmas carols.

7:00 pm - Introduction of this year's Honoree and their contributions to the City.

7:15 pm - Lighting of the tree by Linda Cherrington and Family. They will "Throw the Switch"

7:30 pm - Santa Claus arrives on the fire truck and will greet the children in the Westminster Grange Hall
