Security Increased For Denver Planned Parenthood

DENVER (CBS4) - After the shooting at a Planned Parenthood in Colorado Springs Friday, the Planned Parenthood in Denver increased its security.

Six marked units were on the campus near East 38th Avenue at Quebec Street, and a private security guard was also working with Denver police.

The units were not just staked out in front of the gated building but surrounded the facility. Denver police got a call Friday afternoon asking for support but there is no imminent threat to the Planned Parenthood campus.

Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains issued a statement saying safety is top priority for patients and staff and that they had strong security measures in place.

The shooter was taken into custody at 5 p.m., relaxing security at the Denver facility.

It is unclear if the Colorado Springs Planned Parenthood was the exact target in Friday's active shooter situation. There are 21 Planned Parenthood facilities across Colorado.
