CDOT Radio Station Kicks Off In Time For Thanksgiving Travel

DENVER (CBS4) - The holiday travel season is here, and AAA reports that 87% of Coloradans will travel by car this Thanksgiving.

The day before Thanksgiving, and on the holiday itself, means large numbers of travelers on Colorado highways.

The Colorado Department of Transportation launched an online-streaming, live radio station on Wednesday to keep drivers up to date on current road conditions across the state.

Forty thousand people are expected to pass through the Interstate 70 mountain corridor during the Thanksgiving holiday, and the app provides constant reports.

It's a tool that will help make heavy traffic days a little easier to navigate.

According to CDOT's website, you can listen: Friday evenings from 4-7 p.m., Saturdays and Sundays, 6:30-9:30 a.m. and 4-7 p.m., as well as Holiday Mondays from 12-4 p.m.

They promise live traffic updates every six minutes with road and traffic conditions on I-70 between Denver and Vail and events that might affect your drive.

I-70 Mountain Travel Radio is only available as a live stream on cotrip.org or through CDOT's free mobile application.
