Flames Shoot From Fire At Oil Facility In Strasburg

STRASBURG, Colo. (CBS4) - A fire erupted at an oil facility on South County Road 157 in Strasburg Wednesday morning.

Initial reports state that flames were 100 feet in the air. The facility, owned by Overland Resources LLC, is about 40 miles east of Denver.

By the time the fire department was on scene, flames were shooting 20 feet in the air. They contacted the operator of the facility and personnel responded. The gas valve was shut down, which was the fuel feeding the fire.

The fire was extinguished by 7:30 a.m. and there were no injuries. It was caused by a mechanical failure.

The facility, a fuel treatment separation tower, is still standing because it is made of mostly metal.
