Hillary Clinton Makes Series Of Campaign Stops In Colorado

BOULDER, Colo. (CBS4) - The frontrunner in the race for the Democratic presidential nomination is making several campaign stops in Colorado on Tuesday.

Hillary Clinton spoke to a crowd at the Boulder Theater early Tuesday afternoon.

Clinton said Tuesday's visit is about focusing on Colorado's issues.

While some of her competing Democratic contenders have entertained much larger crowds (Sen. Bernie Sanders addressed a crowd of 10,000 in Boulder last month), this is an incredibly important stop for the former secretary of state. Not only is Colorado a pivotal swing state, but it is also important in terms of fundraising.

Between April and June the Clinton campaign raised nearly $500,000 in the state.

A recent Quinnipiac University poll shows Clinton trailing the top three GOP presidential contenders by 11 percent or more.

Clinton is trying to build grassroots support and mobilize citizens to vote ahead of Colorado's party caucuses on March 1.

After the Boulder event, Clinton was set to head to a private event at the home of Mo and Jennifer Siegel, the founders of Celestial Seasonings. That event is asking for a minimum donation of $2,700.

She's then due in Denver at approximately 3:15 p.m. for an appearance at Manual High School.
