Denver Challenges An Unusual Temperature Record, But Streak Will Likely End Saturday

By Chris Spears

DENVER (CBS4) - In between recent storms meteorologists at the National Weather Service in Boulder have been crunching numbers from Denver's 144 year old temperature record.

They found that as of November 18 it had been 257 days since the temperature in Denver fell below 20°F. It's the seventh longest period with temperatures warmer than the teens.

Denver normally sees about 224 consecutive days with temperatures at or above 20°F.

And while we're less than a week away from matching the old record in 1946 where the temperature stayed at or above 20°F for 263 days in a row, it's looking like we'll fall a few days shy this year.

The current forecast calls for temperatures in the middle teens by sunrise on Saturday morning.
