Man Charged After Driving SUV Into Marczyks Fine Foods

DENVER (CBS4) - The man who drove an SUV into Marczyks Fine Foods on Colfax Avenue last week has been charged.

Marcus Martinez was taken into custody after he drove into the store on Nov. 3. Denver's district attorney has charged Martinez, 30, with possession of a controlled substance and driving under the influence.

Police believe Martinez was under the influence of methamphetamine at the time of the crash.

Investigators say Martinez left the roadway while driving in the eastbound lanes of Colfax Avenue at Fairfax and struck a power pole before crashing into the store.

He has been released from custody on $1,400 bond and is scheduled to appear in Denver County Court for a preliminary hearing on Nov. 30.
