Rockies Shortstop Reyes Accused Of Assaulting His Wife In Hawaii
DENVER (CBS4) - Colorado Rockies shortstop Jose Reyes has been arrested in Hawaii after police say he assaulted his wife, according to Hawaii News Now.
Hawaii News Now reports that the incident occurred on Halloween in a hotel room in Maui. Reyes allegedly grabbed and shoved his wife, Katherine Ramirez, during the argument.
According to Hawaii News Now, Reyes told police he grabbed Ramirez by the throat and shoved into a sliding glass balcony door. He was arrested after hotel security was called and police arrived.
Ramirez reportedly had injuries to her wrist, neck and thigh.
Reyes is currently out on bail. He was acquired by the Rockies when they traded Troy Tulowitzki to Toronto in late July. He played in 47 games hitting .259.
Reyes was never thrilled with the trade saying he didn't want to finish his career with a last place team. The Rockies would love to deal the 32-year old shortstop. He's the highest paid player on the roster. The Rockies owe him $48 million over the next two years.
