Xcel Substation Shot At, Power Knocked Out To Thousands Around Berthoud

BERTHOUD, Colo. (CBS4) - Somebody shot at an Xcel Energy substation in Berthoud and knocked out power to 3,000 people overnight.

The power was restored around 10 a.m. Sunday.

Xcel says there's extensive damage.

"This sort of thing is not rare, but usually happens more often in urban areas like Denver. Last night's damage was extensive by rural standards," Xcel spokesman Gabriel Romero told CBS4.

Law enforcement is investigating.
