DA Files Kidnapping Charges Against Mother Accused Of Abducting Son

BRIGHTON, Colo. (CBS4)- The Adams County District Attorney filed formal charges against the mother accused of kidnapping her son.

Tiffany Rasnic has been charged with second-degree kidnapping, violation of custody and violation of a protection order.

According to Westminster Police, Rasnic's 10-year-old son was picked up from school by a relative Monday afternoon.

While at a red light at 80th and Lowell, police said a man in the vehicle behind them approached the boy's relative and flashed a badge or ID of some kind telling the woman to give up her son or she'd be arrested. That's when Rasnic, 31, allegedly took the boy out of the car by force.

According to police, the boy was found safe in Wheat Ridge after they received a tip following the Amber Alert.

The boy's father says he has custody of the child and that his ex-wife, Rasnic, is not supposed to have contact with him because of a protection order.
