Mother Nature Forces Copper Mountain To Delay Opening Day

COPPER MOUNTAIN, Colo. (CBS4) - Unseasonably warm temperatures have limited snowmaking production at Copper Mountain so the ski resort had to make "the difficult decision" to delay Opening Day.

Copper Mountain was originally scheduled to open on Friday, Nov. 6. Opening Day has now been pushed back a week to Friday, Nov. 13.

"With a forecast of colder temperatures in the foreseeable future, Copper Mountain's Resort Leadership is confident the snowmaking team can create a top-notch surface that Copper Loyalists have come to expect," the resort said in a statement.

Loveland and Arapahoe Basin announced they will both open on Thursday.
