Watch Party Held To Raise Money For 12-Year-Old Who Had Brain Tumor Removed

AURORA, Colo. (CBS4) - It was a watch party where no matter what colors you wore, everyone was on the same team.

On Sunday friends and family of 12-year-old Trevor Kling gathered at Legends of Aurora Sports Grill to raise money for his cancer treatments.

"Different teams come together for one cause," Jeff Christiansan clad full in Kansas City fan gear said.

The group gathered to watch the Chiefs and Steelers game.

"He started getting headaches at the end of May," Trevor's mother Cheryl Kling said.

After a stressful time where they did not know what was wrong, Trevor was diagnosed with a brain tumor and in August and had it removed.

"I just started an oral pill for chemo and it makes me really tired," Trevor said of his new treatments.

Sunday's event had a raffle, giveaway, and chili cookoff. They hoped to raise at least $3,000.

As a sports fan, family and friends knew the event would lift his spirits.

"He remembers all of his sports stats still," Christiansan said.

Although the seventh-grader has many treatments to go, his mother said his spirits are high and outlook positive.

"He's got energy, he's fighting through it."

A GoFundMe page has also been set up in Trevor's honor.
