Fort Collins Family Concerned After Hiker Goes Missing In Bad Weather

FORT COLLINS, Colo. (CBS4) - Police in Fort Collins would like the public's help locating a missing hiker.

According to police, Thomas Seth Mereness, 70, was last seen on Tuesday at 9 a.m. in western Fort Collins wearing a blue Patagonia fleece jacket. He told his family he was going for a hike but didn't give a location.

"He typically likes to hike in Larimer and Boulder counties, particularly near Lyons and Estes Park. Since his location is unknown and weather conditions are deteriorating, family members are concerned for his safety," police said in a statement.

Mereness is described as being 6 feet tall, 168 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes. He wears wire-rimmed glasses. He drives a silver 2001 BMW 325i with Colorado license plate 061-UUT.
