Woman Thought She'd Never See Stolen SUV Again, Then The Photo Radar Ticket Came

DENVER (CBS4) - The good news is Melissa Gonzales won't have to pay her recent photo radar ticket, the bad news is, she doesn't know who is behind the wheel of her 2014 Ford Explorer.

"I knew immediately that somebody took the car," Gonzales said when she first discovered the SUV had been stolen outside her Highlands home on Aug. 27.

Gonzales reported her SUV stolen and thought she would never see it again. But then she started getting parking and driving violations in the mail showing the alleged thieves.

"I got a toll fee from E-470," she said.

In all she's received four violations, from Aurora to West Denver.

"It was for parking in a tow zone on 13th and Lowell."

The latest was the biggest clue of all. On Sept. 15 a photo radar ticket snapped four apparent young people riding in her silver Explorer going 85 in a 45 miles per hour zone.

"I'm hoping that somebody will recognize them and turn them in."

She bought the Explorer brand new after saving up for years. Now she just wants it back, or those responsible brought to justice.

"I would just hope they have some kind of compassion, maybe their parents will see them and realize that if they teach them while they're still young, there is hope for them in the future," Gonzalez said.
